About Me

I'm Shirley Deng, a Data Scientist with a passion for life sciences and film & entertainment. Whether it's a new drug discovery or a new series release, I love to dive deep and geek out on all things innovative and data-driven. When I'm not working, you can find me in theaters catching a movie, at home on my PlayStation, or by the beach looking for dive spots. I'm currently based in Los Angeles, CA.

I joined BCG X last summer as a Data Scientist. Before that, I interned as a Strategy Investment Analyst at Bytedance specializing in Biotech and E-Commerce industries, and as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Shanghai Media Group for network shows and merchandise.

Designed a BEV-focused (Battery Electric Vehicle) and consumer-oriented strategy based on Honda’s customer survey that maximizes Honda’s market share going into the Advanced Cleans Cars II regulation.

Segmented website traffic data using Adobe Analytics and designed A/B testing experiment for online marketing campaign that projected 60% increase in retention rate, visualized key findings in deck to optimize Disney’s KPIs.

Peet's Coffee New Customer Conversion Program

Business Intelligence Specialist

Processed 2GB transactional data and monitored social listening results using NLP model in Python to design omni-channel marketing strategy for Peet’s Coffee, increasing new customer retention rate by 30%.

SMG E-Commerce Festival Segmentation

Project Manager

Processed transactional data of 500K+ users in SQL and provided customer segmentation using K-means clustering with RFM variables in Python to visualize key customer segments in dashboard. Validated A/B testing hypotheses on geologically randomized groups, improving conversion rate by 40%.
